Lucy has worked with all three of our children over the past four years and so we have come to know her well. Lucy is an ideal teacher. She inspires kids to do their best and to tackle more than they might think themselves capable of; she has an exceptional command of the languages she teaches; and she is fun, cute and thorough. And she is now a mother in her own right which, I have no doubt, enables her to connect even more with her students. Lucy is a naturally gifted teacher who can simultaneously convey knowledge of the material, set high standards, and share with her students, as well, an innate curiosity and true love of the learning process. Lucy is, quite simply, a delight to work with and our family has been blessed to have an ongoing relationship with this exceptional person.

Ever since I first started working with Lucy, not only has my knowledge of the language grown, but my self confidence has risen as well. Through her numerous songs, acronyms, and clever tricks, Lucy has found a way to integrate bits of fun into her teaching style, while continuing to teach the material in an effective way. Lucy communicates a fun and positive side to everything she teaches me, allowing me to develop a true interest in Spanish (and French), which makes me look forward to our future sessions. Her organization and preparation for every class show strong devotion and care for what she does; and for that, I am truly thankful.

Lucy has always been a thorough communicator. She stays in touch with me with respect to class curriculum and also student strengths and weaknesses as perceived from inside the classroom. I have worked with Lucy for the past couple of years, and I have seen such a change in my French. As I do not constantly speak French during class at school, it is such a benefit to be able to have someone to speak with outside of school. Lucy helps me fully grasp concepts that are challenging in class, and is always patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. When Lucy cannot come to my house, she makes the effort and takes the time to Skype with me, so that I get a full lesson each week. Lucy is not only a great tutor, but she instills confidence in me that I can one day become fluent in French, like I’ve always wanted.

Lucy has tutored me for three years now and as a result my spanish has improved dramatically. I feel much more comfortable as a Spanish speaker because Lucy conducts the lessons in Spanish. Currently, I am taking a Spanish literature class where we have stopped reviewing grammar. Lucy has made sure to intersperse grammar into our lessons, so I do not lose my grammar skills. When we review grammar, Lucy is able to explain the same points in many different ways and teach me memory tricks, such as using songs or acronyms to help remember units. Furthermore, I feel Lucy has helped me make connections in my writing as well. I would recommend Lucy as a tutor to anyone who needs help with Spanish!

Where to begin when you are talking about a great teacher? Everyone said French was going to be hard, but Lucy taught me French through creative and engaging activities. She has a style of teaching that is caring, thoughtful and easy to comprehend. Even in a class of 30 people, I still felt she gave me individual attention and the skills to get me from French 1 to French 4AP. I was intimidated to start french, but Lucy took me under her wings and soared me to levels I never thought I'd get to. I would never hesitate to recommend her to any one. Lucy knows what she is doing, loves every single day of it, and dedication like that is hard to come by.
