vis-à-vis is a tutoring service which focuses on French and Spanish and caters to students grades 4 – 12. Our goal is to create a multi-dimensional learning environment in which each student can gain confidence and achieve success. Our hope is to inspire students to embrace foreign language and provide them with the right tools to thrive. vis-à-vis believes in a collaborative learning process. Our tutors will collaborate with teachers and parents to help students reach their maximum potential.
vis-a-vis offers :
1) ACADEMIC MENTOR / HOURLY TUTORING (via Zoom)
We cater to each type of language learner and provide tailored hourly tutoring. We focus on reinforcing grammar concepts learned in class, offering alternative ways to learn grammar (through mnemonic devices, song & rhythms) and providing a helping hand for homework, projects, presentation and test review.
2) SPECIALIZED TEST PREPARATION FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST , SUBJECT ACHIEVEMENT TEST AND AP LANGUAGE & LITERATURE TESTS.
We offer intensive and effective review and practice for all of the language based standardized tests, starting from the middle school placement, high school placement, the SAT 2 Subject tests and the AP Language & AP Literature exams.
3) INDEPENDENT STUDY SESSIONS
We offer custom tailored curriculum for students who are following an independent foreign language study, being home-schooled, studying abroad or other extenuating circumstances.
4) SUMMERTIME ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS
These weekly intensive workshops are designed to create language and cultural enrichment throughout the summertime. It is a good way to keep your student speaking the target language & a great way to keep them excited and engaged with learning a foreign language. 5) BACK-TO-SCHOOL REFRESHER WORKSHOPS
The purpose of these weekly workshops is to better prepare your student for the year ahead, while doing an intensive review of the grammar & curriculum learned the previous year. We will play games to review material and make sure your student is excited and ready for the year ahead. We will offer these workshops during the month of August.
